Get Involved + Volunteer With Us!

Our PTO events, classrooms, and school activities are only possible because of amazing volunteers like you. Whether you can help once a year or once a month, every bit of support makes a difference for our students and staff.

Becoming a volunteer is a simple two-step process:

Step 1 → Join the PTO Volunteer List

We’d love to learn how you’d like to help! There are opportunities for every schedule, interest, and comfort level, from carnival events and classroom support to behind-the-scenes help.

Complete the Volunteer Interest Form and our PTO team will reach out with opportunities that fit your availability and interests.

Step 2 → Complete District Volunteer Approval

All volunteers must complete the Hillsboro School District volunteer approval process before volunteering during the school year. For the safety of all students and staff, the Hillsboro School District requires a criminal background check for all volunteers age 18 and older.

The good news? Once approved, your clearance is valid for two years district-wide.

Here’s how to get approved:

  1. Visit: Hillsboro School District Volunteer Application
  2. Select your preferred language and choose: "New Application" OR "Renew Application", then  complete the online application (including reviewing the Volunteer Handbook linked to the form).
  3. After submitting your application, contact the North Plains Elementary Office Team to confirm volunteer clearance (allow 1-week for background check processing).

Once you have confirmed that you have been cleared, check with your child's teacher or the PTO for available volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer Reminders

To help keep our campus safe and organized, all volunteers must:

  • Check in at the front office
  • Sign in and out on the clipboard and computer
  • Wear your volunteer badge while on campus

Small Time Commitment. Big Impact.

Your involvement helps create memorable experiences, stronger classrooms, and a connected school community. Thank you for supporting our students!
